School CLOSURE - Friday 2nd March 2018.
After discussions today with parents and staff the consensus of opinion would appear to be that people would like to know tonight whether or not the school would be open tomorrow. Therefore, after having looked at various weather forecasts I have made the decision that the school will be closed tomorrow.
I realise that this may be inconvenient for some of our families but hope that you can appreciate the reasons behind my decision. Today we had approximately 20% of children off and I am envisioning tomorrow with the threat of worsening conditions that more children will be off. I appreciate that the last 2 days have been extremely disruptive for many parents and certainly those that I have spoken with today would prefer to plan ahead for tomorrow. Due to the extremely cold weather we have not been able to take the children out today and feel that this will continue to disrupt the school day tomorrow in a similar manner. We also have members of staff who do not live locally that have experienced worse weather conditions and anticipate we may not have enough staff for the staff to children ratio necessary.
At this stage we do not have alternative dates for World Book Day or the PTA Mothers' Day shop, we will advise you next week.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused but would like to reiterate for the safety of children, staff & parents we have had to make this decision. We hope you have a safe weekend and hope to see you all on Monday for a week of better weather.
