World Book Day
World Book Day 2024 has been a lot of fun. Staff dressed up and during drop-off this morning the children were greeted by the Queen of Hearts and Gandalf. Nearly all the children dressed up as book characters or as a reader in comfortable clothes, with a favourite book.
Characters included many different Hogwarts attendees and traditional story favourites such as Alice, Dorothy and Mary Poppins and Tigger. There were lots of the Charlie and the Chocolate factory gang: Willie Wonka, Charlie, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde, and a troupe of Oompa Loompas.
There were characters we have not seen before: Percy Jackson, Gangsta Granny, Billionaire Kid and a couple of Wednesdays. We even had Stan Lee, the Marvel comic book writer, actor and producer.
Egg Box Characters: As part of the preparation for the day, children were challenged to make book characters, book scenes or book covers out of egg boxes. They have shown great creativity, and we have some super works of art from every class. Some children made characters linked to their dressing up and some drew their inspiration from other favourites.
