Sun Safety at School

  • Encourage your child to wear suitable items of school uniform, covering up most of the skin, particularly shoulders and neck
  • Provide a sun hat that covers both the head and neck (can be worn during playtimes and PE)
  • Apply a hypoallergenic sun cream before school
  • If you wish, provide your child with a hypoallergenic sun cream to bring to school, which is labelled with their name and stored in a leak proof bag (to be applied at the beginning of lunchtime)
  • Ensure your child has a filled water bottle to bring to school and is reminded to refill at break and/or lunchtimes
  • Advise your child to seek shady places to sit if the sun is very bright and hot and tell a member of school staff if they feel the sun is causing discomfort
