Supporting aid in Australia due to the bush fires
Pupils from our 'Global Action Team' held a day of fundraising to help wildlife affected by the bush fires in Australia.
Spellbrook C of E Primary School’s 'Global Goal' this half term is climate action. Children have been learning about the effects global warming is having on the planet, ways to combat climate change and thinking how to help those who could be affected.
The GAT were really worried after they heard about their catastrophic fires after the worst drought in their history and record high temperatures which have taken a tragic toll on native wildlife and habitats.
The Team arranged a day for the school to arrive in their own sporty clothes and a running challenge to run as far as they could in set time. Everyone in our school participated fully with everyone even in Reception running 1k, most ran over 3k. I am proud that the school raised £196 which will support WIRES (Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service Inc.) in Australia. They have a mission to actively rehabilitate and preserve Australian wildlife and inspire others to do the same.
